IAN KEMP
I'm a fine art photographer who lives in Soldiers Hill, Ballarat
I love the challenges that photography brings.
My interest in photography began when I bought my first DSLR in 2012. At that point I had no knowledge of how to use a camera properly, or of any of the skills involved in post-production, let alone the artistic and expressive qualities that photography demands.
I graduated from Photography Studies College in 2017 with a major in Fine Art and have since started my business in Ballarat. I have exhibited work in group exhibitions in Melbourne, Ballarat, Bunbury (WA), Castlemaine and Maryborough and I will be having my first solo exhibition in mid-January, 2020 at the Mercure Hotel in Ballarat.
My fine art work explores the temporal nature of human life (this is a repeated theme in much of my work) but I also enjoy travel photography, music performance, portraiture and landscape photography.
In 2018 I was a finalist in the Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers Competition (Art) and again I was in the top 30 in 2019. I was awarded 4 Highly Recommended certificates and 2 Commended Certificates in the 2019 Mono Awards.
